Dear Followers of Better Chi by Design,
Most of us ring in the New Year according to the calendar year- December 31st/January 1st– a time when the weather is generally cold, dark and numb. Luckily, we tend to celebrate with candles, lights and other vibrant décor which not only makes everything colourful, but subconsciously promotes feelings of warmth, love, happiness and joy. We undoubtedly took some cues from Mother Nature, more specifically during the transition to Spring!
Springtime is the true New Year. It is a time of new beginnings and growth. It is evident in the poignant change in weather and the newness all around us in nature. Flowers begin to bloom, days become longer, the cold weather recedes and birds begin to migrate back. The joy that these natural changes spark is the very reason why many cultures around the world celebrate Spring with joyous festivals and you should too!
It is believed that there is an abundant supply of healthy and nourishing Chi present in the atmosphere during Spring which results in fast growth. Consequently, this is the best time of the year to move into a new house, start a new business, make new investments, create new life goals, launch new products and quite simply, plant a new tree.
In addition to the usual Spring-cleaning and de-cluttering ideas we have suggested in our previous articles, this is a great time of year to undertake some mental Spring-cleaning.
To get your energy flowing right, you must get your mind right. Negative energies are often caused by repressed emotions such as fear, guilt, anger and frustration arising from disappointments, loss, failures, perceived injustice, etc. Many of us have a lifetime of negative programming that makes up our belief system. We believe that the world is no longer a safe place; we believe that life is a struggle; we believe that it is noble to suffer and finally, we believe that it has become too dangerous to love as heartbreak is inevitable.
These non-constructive beliefs are emotional hindrances and nothing more. They subdue your spirit, supress your natural vitality and disrupt your valuable yang energy. Therefore, it is important to acknowledge your fears that cause these negative energies, but try to focus on productive and constructive beliefs at the same time. By shifting your focus on your dreams and desires, the present and the future will allow you to create the life you have imagined.
So as you move forward throughout your day: make choices that will have positive outcomes for yourself and others; surround yourself with good people; and do the right thing because it’s the right thing to do. If nothing else, Feng Shui is the awareness of what feels right and what doesn’t. Each circumstance, thought or person will either energize you or deplete you. So it’s up to you to decide whether it will expand or contract your personal AURA (energy field).
Good luck with your Spring-cleaning.
